The following applies if you need to temporarily add a device to the network or if it is not possible to install a new switch with the corresponding capacity immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By specifications only four <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/ruckus-r510\/\">R510s<\/a> can be connected to the Ruckus <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/icx\/\">ICX<\/a> 7150-C08P, as this <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/ap\/\">AP<\/a> identifies itself as a Class 3 device that occupies 15.4 watts by the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/poe\/\">PoE<\/a> standard. In most cases, however, the capacity of the AP USB port, is not required and power consumption is in the 7W class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consumption can be viewed with the switch command:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>show inline power<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignfull size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"801\" height=\"409\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/pilt1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2066\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/pilt1.png 801w, https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/pilt1-300x153.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/pilt1-768x392.png 768w, https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/pilt1-600x306.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 801px) 100vw, 801px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>  In practice, the consumption is lower and allows more APs to be connected to the Ruckus ICX 7150-C08P, if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We connected three R510s to the switch and set all of them to power up 16 different WiFi networks, 8 in the 2.4Ghz range and 8 in the 5Ghz range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignfull size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/pilt2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/pilt2.png 800w, https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/pilt2-300x160.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/pilt2-768x410.png 768w, https:\/\/blog.3kgroup.ee:443\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/pilt2-600x320.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> As you can see, the consumption is much lower than the standard allows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you now lower the power class of the switch port, it is possible to connect more APs to the device. With a Class 2 setup, the unit takes up 7W of power.
